Growing up, I was fascinated with learning about various cultures around the world. I discovered that our differences are our collective strength, and allow for the opportunity to learn, grow, and find inspiration. I did not have the chance to learn a second language in elementary school. This is the reality for many kids in the United States, and it is a disservice to our youth, as the opportunities that arise from this skill are invaluable.

The benefits of learning Spanish extend far beyond the academic and professional world. Take it from me: without having learned Spanish, I wouldn’t have been able to live and teach in Spain. Wouldn’t you love to be able to understand what’s happening around you in a different country? Better yet, there are likely many Spanish speakers in your own community; no foreign travel required.
